Project Coming Up

Hi all, I have been elected the Financial Officer of a new film/production company a bunch of us are in the process of forming and I am keyed up! We have a script that we've approved, we will begin casting, tentatively the weekend after next weekend and will be filming by mid-November. An exciting time as I will also be writing 50,000 words of a new book, continuing my involvement in the writer's group and Sisters In Crime (as a Programming Committee and Board member), celebrating a very special birthday (of my Grandma's), attending two conventions (one out of town), as well as holding down the old full-time day-job. It's times like these I wish I was addicted to caffeine...

NANOWRIMO - NAT'L NOVEL WRITING MONTH

Image
I signed up to NANOWRIMO - National Novel Writing Month - for the first time ever. The idea is, you write 50,000 words in one month. You don't "win" anything except you get a novel out of it. It costs nothing to sign up, which always appeals to me. The "official" month is November but you can choose any month you want and do it on your own. I want to do it with the world so I'm raring to go in 19 days and six hours!! Check out their website to see what all the fuss is about - or to sign up too! http://www.nanowrimo.org/ P.S. Actually, I'm raring to go in 12+ days. Evidently you are allowed to plan and outline and begin doing background work on characters and the book one week before the start date - but you still can't write anything until Nov. 1.

Strangest Line of the Day

This is from the "How-exactly-does-the-world-see-me?" category. I'm sitting in my writer's group when one of the authors turns to me and says, "You would love this book. It's all about a ventriloquist who tortures his family." I stared at her for a moment, wondering if I resemble the sort of person that would revel in a book about a ventriloquist who tortures his family. Now, I do admit, it does sound intriguing, but that's beside the point....
